Host families who wish to host students must provide a caring, comfortable and conducive environment, which supports the students academic progress so they can achieve their goals. Host families that are successful are people who show a duty of care, and must:
| - Have a friendly personality and are flexible.
- Have acceptable moral and social values.
- Have some experience with people from different cultures.
- Be conveniently located, near public transport ie within 30 minutes by public transport to Griffith University or the city.
- Have a balance in their judgement between the need for an income and the welfare of a student.
- Provide a home environment that is clean, tidy and conducive.
- Ensure that in the event of illness the student receives medical attention.
- Ensure that the student is home at agreed times and their whereabouts known at all times.
